Much public discourse in recent years has focused on the concepts of de-globalization, economic nationalism, the return of geopolitics, great power competition between China and the United States, and the possibility of a new Cold War. Is the world truly witnessing the end of globalization as we know it? What do these geopolitical shifts mean for the ‘rules-based international order’ built in the aftermath of World War II?  Can multilateral institutions remain relevant in an era of increasing divisions and shifting alignments?

In dialogue with Mr. Ronnie Chan, Chairman of Asia Society Hong Kong Center, Professor NgaireWoods, founding Dean of the Blavatnik School of Government and Professor of Global Economic Governance at Oxford University, will explore these questions and what these developments mean for the future of globalization and the ‘rules-based international order’.
