A lawyer, a leader of many charitable organisations in Hong Kong and an ardent supporter of Oxford University's increasing engagement with Asia, Chris last year led an expedition to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in support of Exeter College's 700th anniversary. This September he will embark on the Big Kora trek in Yunnan Province to fundraise for the Oxford China Centre. Chris was named a Distinguished Friend of Oxford in 2011. MORE

The history of Oxford’s engagement with China is centuries old – and there is no more powerful statement of the University’s commitment to the study of China than the development of the University of Oxford China Centre. The campaign to build a dedicated facility for it has recently been boosted with a £3 million gift from Hong Kong businessman Mr. Henry Chan. In recognition of this gift, the library in the centre will be named the Bodleian KB Chen Library. MORE.
